A STATEMENT that three employees of the Western

S.M.T. Co., Ltd., had canvassed houses in support of a proposed new service between Ardrossan and Kilmarnock, was made before the Scottish Licensing Authority in Glasgow, last week.

SEVERN ROAD BRIDGE: EVIDENCE WANTED

ROAD transport operators were to be asked their views on the proposed Severn Bridge, said Sir Percy Thomas, chairman of the Welsh Board for Industry, last week. The Board have agreed to a suggestion of the SouthWest Regional Board for Industry to prepare a joint memorandum on the subject, and sub-committees of the two boards met on Monday.

Evidence is required from the manufacturing and transport industries on the use that is likely to be made of the bridge. The joint committee will also wish to know what tonnage of goods is likely to cross it, and what the reaction of operators would be to a toll.

The Welsh Board had already agreed in principle to the toll system if they could not get the bridge in any other way, said Sir Percy.
