Following_ the deputation from the C.M.U.A. to North Western Members of Parliament, on Tuesday, Sir William Brass and Mr. R. Cary, representing the members, are to meet members of the Parliamentary Road Group to discuss the problems of the road-transport industry. The question of .making a joint deputation to the Minister of Transport will be decided.

The points urged by Tuesday's deputation are outlined on page 125 of this issue.

Keeling and Whitehead Case " Adjourned.

The hearing of the Leeds case in which Joseph Keeling, motor dealer and haulage contractor of . Viaduct Garages, Kirkstall Road, Leeds, and Thomas -Whitehead, of Whitehead's Removals, Ltd., Woodhouse Lane, Leeds, are accused of making false statements and of conspiracy, in connection with A licences, was not resamed on February 26, as had been arranged. It has now been adjeurned until March 16.

West Midland C.M.U.A. Board Formed.

The annual general meetings of all areas in the C.M.U.A. West MidlandDivision have now been held and sectional boards for haulage, passenger and ancillary interests have been set up.

On Tuesday, Mr. J. Norton was appointed chairman of the haulage sectional board and Mr. H. Clegg, chairman of the ancillary sectional board.. Mr. S. M. Macadam was elected chairman of the division for the ensuing year and Mr. L. W. Cupwell, vice-chairman. :Miss J., C. Durrant was appointed Secretary.

B22 THREE LICENCE SUSPENSIONS.

It is announced that the Metropolitan Licensing Authority has suspended the B licence of Messrs. N. Belasco and Sons from February 24-March 9, and the C licence of Messrs. J. Ransomes and Sons from February 20-March 19.

The C licence held by Portsmouth and Brighton United Breweries, Ltd., King Street, Southse,a, is to be suspended by the South-Eastern Licensing Authority for the week commencing April 4.

Traffic Control During Race Week.

Hauliers who will be running into Liverpool during the Grand National race week are reminded that there will be the usual diversion of road traffic ift the Aintree district on March 18,

19 and 20. Each day from 4 p.m. until the race traffic has been cleared there will be one-way traffic in Onnskirk Road, in a northerly direction from Aintree Police Station to the Old Road gross roads.

• Liverpool Cart and Motor Owners Association advises its members that the police intend to be more insistent this. year on all through and heavy traffic Using this by-pass route.

Edinburgh Chamber Alarmed.

. Edinburgh Chamber of Commerce is one of the latest bodies to join in the chorus of demand for an impartial investigation into the operation of the Road and Rail Traffic Act. Alarm is expressed at the claim by the railways to a monopoly of trunk traffic.

When a Warning Is Not a Warning.

A verbal warning of intention to prosecute for driving a vehicle without due care and attention, given 3i hours after the alleged offence, was held by Crickhowell Magistrates not to comply with the rules relating to notices of intention to prosecute. The case was dismissed.
