Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The training of bus conductors and driver /operators in the handling of decimal currency should be delayed until early 1971 if possible. This is the recommendation of the Road Transport Industry Training Board.

To meet the needs of the road transport industry, which includes many small companies, the RTITB set up a Working Party on Decimalization to examine what help the Board could give. With respect to managers and office staff, the working party has advised that such staff should be trained now in preparation for the change, a step approved by the Board, which has suggested the following booklets for them to study: Recognizing and Expressing Decimal Currency. Conversion from £ s d to Decimals. Calculating in Decimals. Cash-handling.

These contain self-instruction programmes, developed and published by the Local Government Training Board in collaboration with Learning Systems Ltd, and may be obtained from the RTITB regional offices.

A delay in training bus crews is advised to avoid waste of effort because of the large turnover of such staff. and also because the training may be forgotten unless continuous practice is maintained. The Board recommends four hours' instruction comprising 2 hr basic instruction in decimalization and 14hr in cash-handling practice. In final preparation for D-day, 30min revision in cash-handling should be given during the period February 1 to 15 1971.
