go. These include a special sun sensor and a sophisticated NOx sensor, which automatically activates the recirculation mode on encountering particularly polluted air in tunnels. Automatic regulation of temperature and fans is available, as is an automatic, temporary release of recirculation mode at 30-minute intervals. The placement of the switches and their ease of operation are faultless.
That also applies without reservation to the arrangement in the Scania, which is the only one of the field to offer digital setting of the desired temperature —together with a rapid cooling option. The Scania also has a sun sensor as well as an automatic mode for temperature and fans. in recirculation mode the Scania opens the hatch every 15 minutes to mix in some fresh air. As the cherry on the cake, it offers the Short Stop Ventilation function: if the switch is turned briefly to the P ventilation position, the sunroof opens a little (if it is electric), and the fan lets rip at 30% of full power for a maximum of two hours.
The well positioned, logically laid out buttons and switches of the Volvo are not quite so luxuriously modelled but are certainly of sufficient stature. From rapid cooling to the automatic function for fans and temperature, nothing is lacking. The ensemble is almost as understated as the Des but is packed with sophistication.
