ELDDIS TRANSPORT of Consett, Co Durham boosted its turnover and profit last year, according to its latest figures.

Turnover was 12.6m, up from £2.2m in 2005. Pre-tax profit rose from £198.226 to £215,358; the workforce expanded from 323 to 366.

In their annual report, the directors say that over the next few years they will focus on keeping costs down: "Turnover grew in 120061 by 10%, as a result of the growth of existing accounts and several new business wins.The firm successfully renewed contracts with a number of its major customers and in addition several new contracts were signed."

Elddis bought more than 60 vehicles and 60 trailers last year, as well as extending a warehouse and replacing storage racking.
