Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• NEW STANDARDS to stamp out shoddy repairs and servicing are to be imposed on workshops by the Motor Agents Association.

From 1 July workshops will be forced to give parts and labour warranties. Servicing and repairs will be covered for three months/ 3,000 miles, and bodywork for 12 months/12,000 miles. Parts and components suppliers will he obliged to support the manufacturer's or importer's warranty.

At least one workshop em ployee should he trained to National Craft Certificate standard, says the MAA, and if workshops do not comply to the new code of conduct they could be expelled — up to 10 expulsions are made every year.

In conjunction with a name change to the Retail Motor Industry Federation the association hopes the rules will lift the public's perception of an industry which, it says, has received "unjust criticism'.
