Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Further to your letter headed "Urgent attention" about reversing bleepers, I think there is a further point which you should bring to the attention of readers (CM 14-20 June).

The fact that one magistrate has given his opinion that reverse bleepers should be fitted to goods vehicles is an interest, but no more. Their use will not allow drivers or operators to evade responsibility should an accident occur. In all cases, it is clearly the reversing driver's sole responsibility to ensure that his path is clear.

Unlike previous correspondents, I have no commercial interest in this matter — merely an interest in road safety. A Edwards, Yardley, Birmingham.
