• A major coach ban imposed on 160 roads in London by Westminster City Council may be "the thin end of the wedge', warns the Bus and Coach Council.
Although the coach ban will not affect legal coach parking and set-down, the BCC fears it may open the door to "some barmy schemes".
A spokesman says: "We want to see overall traffic management, not blanket bans, because traffic is only part of the problem, not the problem."
The ban affects some residential roads in Belgravia, Bayswater, Paddington and Victoria, and other areas of Bayswater may come up for review soon, says Robert Davis, chairman of the council's traffic committee. "At public meetings we are inundated with complaints about coaches," says Davis.
"I know the majority of coach drivers are responsible and the ban will not affect them because they won't be in these areas anyway," he says.
