• In Brussels on June 24 the EEC Transport Trade Union Committee adopted a "declaration on the common transport policy", deploring the delay in defining and implementing this policy—" all the more serious since the free traffic of goods is about to be introduced". The Committee also favours daily rigorous planning and says the common policy should include: O provisions regulating capacity; El co-ordination of decisions with regard to infrastructure investment (the building of new transport channels); O new means of transport (aviation, oil pipelines, containers, etc.); O social harmonization within each mode of transport and in comparison with other modes of transport on the basis of all the most positive social measures at present in force; O fiscal harmonization, with regard both to general taxes which have repercussions for transport, and special taxes in the field of transport; O constant and effective market supervision by the creation of an ad hoc committee (in which the trade union organizations ask to be represented).
