Mr. Peter Walker, Conservative M.P. for Worcester, has accepted the presidency of the National Conference of Road Transport Clearing Houses in succession to Mr. W. R. Rees-Davies, Conservative M.P. for Thanet, who served as president for seven years. Mr. Walker, 32, is chairman of a firm of Lloyd's insurance brokers.

He has been in the transport service for 39 years, holding posts in Scotland before moving to Mansfield. Mr. G. E. Henshaw, the company's chief clerk, will be the new traffic superintendent. with the object of recommending what form the scheme should take and What legislative action would be required. The committee work had started, said Lord Chesham, and was milking progress.

Mr. Peter Bloomfield has been appointed chief designer of the York Trailer Co. Ltd. He was previously head of the York Third Axle division, having joined the company in 1959. Mr. D. B. Amos has joined York as contracts sales manager and Mr. Alan W. Turner as products application engineer.

Mr. A. A. Halley has been re-elected president of the council and general committee of the Scottish Motor Trade Association Ltd. Mr. W. D. Miller has been re-elected retailer vice-president; Mr. E. Thompson is the immediate pastpresident.

Brig. G. M. Macdonald retired last week as secretary of the British Transport Vehicle Manufacturers' Association. Mr. R. Woodward, who has retired from the service of A.C.V. Ltd., has taken over from Mr. Macdonald.
