The North of England to Have its "Travelling Show." Few, but Representative, Entries for an Interesting Campaign.

TONDAY morning, July 11th, will JY_Lsee the send-off by the Lord Mayor of Liverpool of a number of commercial sidecar ontfits which is taking part in ft tour round the north of England. For the third year in succession the Auto-Cycle -Union is, at the request of the British Cycle and Motor Cycle Manufacturers and Traders Union, Ltd., organizing a six days' demonstration of the capabilities of the modern sidecar outfit adapted to trade requirements.

Such a demonstration was evolved in 1925 and the Midland and Eastern Counties were covered. The undoubted success of this event, both to manufacturers and agents, was so apparent that in the following year a similar exhibition was given round the south coast, and this year the hard-headed business men of the north are to have an opportunity of seeing for themselves the money-saving capabilities of this economical form of delivery unit.

The Mogan is "Carry by Sidecar," and with it is coupled the underlying note of service combined with speed, reliability and economy.

No efforts have been spared by the promoting bodies to ensure the fullest publicity and propaganda for this event; and it is rather surprising to find so few manufacturers taking advantage of what is surely one of the cheapest "publicity stunts" which have so far been evolved. At the same time, the entry list may be said to be fairly representative, embracing, as it does, the makes shown in Table T. This table gives the name of the entrant, the make of motorcycle and sidecar, and a description; of the class of outfit.

It is refreshing to note that amongst these entries there is almost a newcomer to the three-wheeler class in the Coventry-Victor tricar van. It is also intriguing to find that out of. 16 entries, no fewer than five arc designed for dairymen's purposes!

There do not seem to be any "show pieces" this year, such as. the firefighting outfit, the ice-cream barrow, the hill-poster'a combination and thesoda fountain, which have been seen in previous years. Neither are there sidecars designed to advertise directly the particular goods which they deliver.

Quite an innovation is the tractortrailer attached to a 2i h.p. Douglas solo motorcycle.

The route to be covered embraces Some 45 important cities and towns, and the organizers have been more fortunate than in previous years in securing suit able parking places. The daily itineraries, positions of the parking places, times of the arrival and departure of

the convoy, together wit la the names of agents who are actrrag as local organizers, are gveu in Table IL
