WHAT IS CLAIMED to he the first 16-ton Fiat in the UK to be fitted with Edbro underbody tipping gear has entered service with Build Form Ltd at Ampthill, Bedfordshire.
The Fiat was supplied by NDE Trucks Ltd, Wellingborough, and fitted with an allsteel double-dropside Edbro body as well as the underbody tipping gear and Atlas 3006 crane by Stantone Hydraulics Ltd, of Olney, Bucks.
Stantone also equipped the chassis with a towing hook and brake and electrical connections so that it can tow a close-coupled tandem-axle low-loader. This enables the Fiat to carry mechanical plant when it is laden with other materials.
Overall the body is 4.1m (13ft 4in) long with the unladen weight of the Fiat being 7.35 tonnes (7 tons 5cwt).
