Transport for London's latest London Travel Report shows that the number of car drivers entering central London has fallen dramatcally since the introduction of the charge last February.
However the number of trucks has held steady for the obvious reason that deliveries have to be made while car drivers can often switch to public transport. The Freight Transport Association, which is campaigning for trucks to be excluded from the charge, claims that congestion charging has led to higher costs and wasted time for operators, without any benefits from speedier deliveries.
