Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

N increase of b per cent on basic rates for haulage employees outside the London area, with the London differential maintained, was recommended by the Road Haulage Wages Council on Friday.

If approved, this would put about 12s. 6d. a week on to the basic wage of the driver of a 7-tonner in a Grade 1 area, or 13s. 5d. for a driver of a 16-ton eight-wheeler.

The proposals, published as R.H. (81), are likely to be issued in about a fortnight, after which there will be 14 days for notice of objection, before the Wages Council meets again to put firm proposals to the Minister.
