Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• A fine of £40,. with £10 costs, was imposed on G. Stiller (Transport) Ltd., of Middleton St. George, by Tottenham magistrates on Tuesday.

Stiller pleaded guilty to exceeding the 32ton gross weight limit by 1 ton 17cwt and exceeding the 9-ton permissible maximum weight transmitted through one axle by 1 ton 3cwt.

Mr. A. Ruffiles, an MoT vehicle examiner, said the vehicle was stopped and weighed on A406 at Edmonton, N18. The vehicle had been loaded at Tilbury.

In mitigation, Stiller said this was an isolated case. The plated weight of the vehicle was 36 tons and therefore not causing any danger. All drivers were warned of the seriousness of overloading.
