• W. J. Wenman (Covent Garden) Ltd. was fined £24 with £15 costs at Aldershot magistrates' court on Monday for aiding and abetting Mr. M. O'Connell, of Farnborough. on 12 charges of using a goods vehicle without a carrier's licence.

Mr. M. O'Connell also pleaded guilty to 12 charges of using a goods vehicle without a test certificate and 12 charges of using a goods vehicle without a plating certificate. He was given a conditional discharge for two years and ordered to pay £10 costs, Mr. Christopher Kite, prosecuting for the MoT, said Mr. O'Connell was buying fruit and vegetables from Wenman and then using one of its lorries to distribute them.

In evidence. Mr. O'Connell said he thought it was the responsibility of Wenman to see that the vehicles met with all the legal requirements.

Mr. John James. defending Wenman, said very little blame could be attached to the company.
