Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• Orders for over 100 Fleetline doubledeckers have been announced by Daimler Transport Vehicles Ltd. All are for 9m chassis (about 30ft overall length). mostly fitted with Gardner 6LX engines.

Surprise orders are from Barton Transport Ltd., Chilwell, Notts (10). and Gosport and Fareham Omnibus Co. (six, with Park Royal bodies), which are the first orders for rearengined double-deckers from these operators. (In the July 11 issue of CM it was reported that Barton's had ceased the practice of purchasing new double-deckers.) Largest order comes from Sheffield City Transport which has ordered 50 Fleetlines20 chassis with Alexander low-height bodies and 30 with Park Royal normal-height bodies, all fitted with Gardner 6 LXB engines..

Other orders include Coventry Corporation Transport (28—East Lancs bodies), Chester Corporation Transport (six—the first rearengined double-deckers for the local fleet) and Grimsby-Cleethorpes (five, with Roe bodies).
