• The Ministry of Transport has asked the Road Haulage Association to justify the advice on cost increases which specialist committees (notably express carriers group) have recently given to members, the national chairman, Mr. Noel Wynn, told hauliers at the West Midland area dinner last night. And he added that the Ministry's inquiry held the implied threat of a further reference to the Prices and Incomes Board.
This would not stop the RHA from giving its members advice on cost increases. said Mr. Wynn: this advice did not lead to every member immediately demanding an identical increase in rates. Subject only to the undertaking not to recommend blanket rate increases, the Association did not intend to abrogate its duty to its members, he asserted.
