Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

some vehicles at weights above these at which they have been plated, Could you tell me how this occurs?

AThe situation you have mentioned occurs

when vehicles are plated under the Motor Vehicles (Construction and Use) Regulations 1969 but are of a type which when carrying abnormal indivisible loads operate under the Motor Vehicles (Authorisation of Special Types) General Order 1969.

The law allows such vehicles to operate at their plated weights with normal loads but if abnormal indivisible loads are carried under the Special Types order the gross weight of the vehicle and load must be above the maximum plating weight for that class of vehicle. By a strange anomaly this means in some cases that if the plated weight of the vehicle and the maximum permissible plated weight for the type are different, then the vehicle must not be operated at any weight between the two—e.g. a three-axle articulated outfit plated at 22 tons operates at 2 tons below the maximum permissible plated weight for that type of vehicle, but when operated under the Special Types Order its gross weight must be a minimum of 24 tons, It is not, therefore, allowed to operate at any weight between 22 tons and 24 tons.
