Before the war the French municipal council had decided on the total abolition of horses in the municipal services. The fire brigade was the first to be completely motorized. Work was proceeding very rapidly towards the motorization of the scavenger service, the street eleaninz and the street watering services. Naturally, all this werk was stepped during the war, but now that a return to something approaching normal conditions has been made the munkipality has resumed its labours of transformation. Orders have beer. placed for new street sweepers and street waterers, and during the last few days another order chas been placed with the S.O.M.11.A. for 200 household refuse collecting motor vehicles. This company is really on auxiliary of-the Paris General Omnibus Co:, and will supply piactically the same type of chassis as used• for the Paris buses, the ' o26.
