KNIGHTS OF OLD has expanded its fleet of 120 trailers with two new trailers built by Peterboroughbased Lawrence David. Both feature the newly designed fuel-saving curve (FSC) which incorporates an aerodynamically shaped trailer roof system to allow a more efficient flow of air over the front.
Research has indicated that fuel savings can be achieved by using trucks with this styling, especially on long runs where speed tends to be held at a constant level. Ii has been suggested that if aerodynamic vehicles were used for long distance trunking work, they could achieve a 13% fuel saving against a normal doubledeck trailer system, unless the lost space is normally utilised..
