The brake tester produced by Heenan and Froude Ltd, incorporates sets of rollers, the centre distance of which can be adjusted between 17in. and 23-1in. A pilot valve operated by a hand lever applies air to a pneumatic cylinder which releases or inserts locking pins to free the rollers for adjustment or to lock them in their running position. Two cradle-mounted geared electric motors drive the rollers through chains, and torque reactions are measured by hydrostatic load cells. Pedal pressures are measured by a oressometer.
