Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

comprising a hook with a substantial handle and which fits snugly over the end of the brake shoe allowing ample pressure to be brought to bear on the return springs for the shoes to be removed or fitted in perfect safety. For the H2LS medium vehicle brake unit there are two tools, the spring remover, and the steady-post adjuster. The spring remover is made from high-tensile alloy and comprises nothing more than a lever with a long hook fitted to it about 6in. from the business end. But, the most difficult springs can be fitted or removed in seconds when it is used.

The steady-post adjuster makes the setting of this component possible with ease, even when the post is tucked away behind a road spring. It saves a lot of bad temper and damaged locking and adjusting heads. A second Shoe Horn, but of a much heavier pattern, is supplied for use with the heavycommercial brake shoe with the double web. This tool is used in the same manner as the one for light vehicles.

The Shoe Expander is also for use with the double-web commercial shoe. This tool comprises a pair of hinged levers with ends cranked on two planes. At one end are hand grips and at the other, slotted adaptor blocks designed to locate over the inner edges of the shoe ends. A locking hook is positioned to allow assemblies to be expanded and locked while work is carried out on the operating units. All operations necessary on these parts can be executed without the need to cornpletely dismantle the shoes.

Snail-cam adjusters come in for a lot of hard treatment when operating mileages are high. The overhaul of this component is much simplified by the use of the Girling snail-cam assembly tool which is, like most others mentioned here, simple but extremely effective. It comprises a 0-cramp which has a locking bolt and a compression bolt threaded through it. By using the kit set supplied for overhauling this particular unit together with this tool, what can be an awkward and fiddling job is completed almost in less time than it takes to describe. What is more important is that once the snail-cam assembly is overhauled, brake adjustment can be made as accurately and speedily as when the vehicle was new.
