Marlow, Ltd.. builders' merchants. Claremont Quarry, Idle, to place their C-licence fleet of five vehicles under a B licence. with conditions of "builders' materials within 25 miles of Bradford Post Office," was withdrawn at Leeds last week, after a submission on behalf of the objectors that the application was misconceived and could he dealt with under Section 12 of-the Road and Rail Traffic Act.

Mr. S. Sheppherd, the applicants secretary, told the Yorkshire Deputy Licensing Authority, Mr. J. H. N Randolph, that the main reason for the application was to carry occasional loads, tools and equipment for two recently formed associated companies, Claremont Demolitions, Ltd., and Claremont Quarries, Ltd.

Questioned by Mr. Alan Goss, for eight haulier objectors, Mr. Sheppherd said the shareholders of both the new cornpanies were Mr. E. Marlow and Mrs. C. Marlow, who, with another member of the family, held all the shares of E. Marlow, Ltd. Mr. Goss pointed out that the Transport Tribunal had held that even if the parent company did not hold the shares, but they were held by common directors, the Authority could apply Section 12 and grant a C licence to permit transport for all the companies.
