oper ated by Henry Hulley and Sons, Ltd., Baslow, in the Chesterfield, Baslow, Tideswell and Bakewell areas were authorized at Leeds last Friday by the Yorkshire Traffic Commissioners. Maj. F. S. Eastwood, chairman, said that Hulley's stage-carriage receipts per mile were so low that the services could not be operated without the support of excursions. He hoped the increases would enable the applicants to keep on the road a little longer,
Mr. W. Hargrave, for the applicants, said the estimated yield would be £2,500. At the time of the company's last application, which was estimated to yield the same amount, a credit balance of £1,000 for the year ended March 31, 1956, was expected, but there had been a loss of £616. In the year ended March 31, 1957, a debit of £2,392 was estimated, and would rise to £2.450 in 1958 if no increases were granted. If the application was granted as applied for, the company would show a credit balance of £50 next March.
They had made no provision for passenger resistance and there was no safety margin.
