Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A SCANIA dealership is mystified as to how thieves managed to break in to its compound and steal a truck without taking the keys to the vehicle, The Scania 114C 340 truck, belonging to tipper operator PB Donoghue, was at the South Mimms dealership in Hertfordshire for routine maintenance.

However, at around 11.50pm on 25 August CCTV recorded footage of the vehicle being driven off the premises.

Police discovered the culprits had used a crowbar to break through a combination padlock, but did not target the offices where the key was stored. "There was no forced entry when it was stolen; a key seemed to be used to start and drive the vehicle away, yet the vehicle's key was in Scania's office," says PB Donoghue's Les Trayhorn. "Whoever stole it was able to start the vehicle straight away."

A spokeswoman for Scania defended security at its dealerships, stressing that all have extensive alarm and CCTV systems.

Hertfordshire police says it is exploring several avenues of investigation.

The Scania's registration is X399 NHJ and its chassis number 4437528. PB Donoghue is offering a substantial reward for its safe return.
