• Haulage costs have risen by 6.5% since the Gulf crisis began, according to the Road Haulage Association. It says fuel has risen by an average 8.73p a litre (ex-VAT).
Mobil said it was likely it would bring its prices into line with Esso, Shell and Texaco.
