• Yorkshire Rider is the name of the new bus company which will take over the operations of the present Metrobus fleet — operated by West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Executive — from October 26.
In charge of the new company will be Bill Cottham — currently managing director of West Yorkshire Public Transport Company.
Yorkshire Rider "will lead the way in serving the needs for the County", says Michael Simmons, chairman of the West Yorkshire Passenger Transport Authority, which will be the shareholder in the new company.
• WYPTA is to ask the gov ernment for more cash for its bus and rail services. The 1987/88 spending level has been currently set at 257.9 million, which the authority says is 28.4 million short of what it needs, and well below the 261.3 million level of 1986/87.
The authority says it intends to submit an application for a redetermination of its current expenditure limits which could seriously effect transport operations in the county.
