Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

The Freight Transport Association does not take sides on the dealer versus in-house workshop debate (CM20-26 April). The choice of service arrangements clearly depends on the size, needs and work of the operation concerned.

However, your story contained a photograph captioned "In house servicing becoming uncompetitive", but showing an engineer wearing overalls bearing the FTA logo.

Despite our continuous

pleasure in seeing FTA appear in Commercial Motor, and a reminder that FTA Vehicle Inspection Services are happy to carry out inspections wherever required, whether dealer, depot or workshop, perhaps the combination of the caption and the FTA logo together was a bit misleading.

The FTA carries out no actual servicing—strictly inspections.

Geoff Dossetter Head of media relations, Freight Transport Association.
