• Eight more drivers have been fined for breaking the London Lorry Ban. Four of them — Alf Walker (R W Boyles Haulage, Brackley, Northampton); Alan Roberts (W 011erton & Sons, Burtonwood, Lanes); Timothy Newbigging (owner-driver, Seaford, Suffolk); and G Coulson (Woodrich Transport, Luton) — were fined 2200 each by Sutton Magistrates Court after enforcement officers of the London Boroughs Transport Scheme saw their vehicles using Woodcote Road, Wallington, Sutton, during prohibited hours.

Later last week another four drivers were fined for con travening the ban on Woodford New Road, London E17. They are Gerald Michael Woods (Woods International, Felixstowe); Stephen Wade (Anthony Kenneth Tillson, Peterborough); Derek Temple (Fox Brothers, Blackpool); and Peter Hancock (Hargreaves Quarries, Pickering, N Yorks). All were fined 275 plus costs, except Wade, who was fined .250 plus costs,
