• Department of Transport contracts to develop computerised roller brake tests for commercial vehicles have been won by Tecalemit Garage Equipment and VLT of Holland. Existing equipment was supplied in 1968 by Crypton.

Computers which will be able to transmit and receive information from the DTp's Goods Vehicle Centre at Swansea via control units at each of 91 test stations to individual test lanes, replacing the pre sent card system providing vehicle performance data. Further contracts to provide and install the new equipment over the next four years are expected to be worth up to 25 million.
