Alan Best, assumes wider responsibilities as md operations, reporting to Dawson. • Dr Pierre Jungels, managing director of Petrofina (UK), who is a Belgian, was presented with an Honorary CBE by Energy Minister Cecil Parkinson, at a ceremony in the House of Commons, in recognition of his services to Britain as head of Petrofina (UK) and president of the Institute of Petroleum 1986-1988.

• Bainbridge Silencers' UK marketing team led by Ian Jameson is being expanded. Chris Shilton, 25, is promoted sales development manager Timax mountings, and a marketing assistant will be appointed. The company was recently acquired by Arvin Industries of Indiana.

• Steve Harvey, 36, who was raised in the garage trade and has 10 years, selling experience, becomes sales manager of the Ravaglioli Division of Samefa (UK). • Martin Barra, 25, has joined Bostik as market development manager for the Industrial distribution division.

• Roger Bates, 27 years with Bristol-based truck air braking specialist Bendix, moves from aftermarket sales and service manager to business development officer. • Daren Mottershead is joining Clayton Dewandre/ Wabco from Nottingham company Esprit Automation to specialise in braking equipment, drive slip control and electronic control air suspension for trucks, trailers, off-road vehicles and buses.

• Ian Struijs, from the car repair division of Akzo Coatings, manufacturer of Sildtens paints, is now product manager of the restructured marketing department. Colin Denman, from compressor manufacturer Compair Broomwade, becomes marketing analyst.

• Clive Tucker moves from regional sales manager with Coopers Payen to the newly created position of UK field service manager. Another aftermarket strategy change is the creation of the post of UK sales development manager, filled by Eric Smith, who was northern sales manager.
