Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

A LORRY driver's mysterious disappearance in Volos, Greece, at the end of March has triggered off a major search for his whereabouts involving Greek police and Customs officials, The British Foreign office, a private detective and a number of international lorry drivers in the area.

The driver, Patrick Fitzgerald, is employed by OHS Transport in Rainham. "Our prime concern was for the welfare of Mr Fitzgerald," a company spokesman told CM.

Mr Fitzgerald was first reported missing when the OHS agent in Volos discovered that he had not boarded a ferry to continue his journey to Kuwait. His lorry was safely in the dock area and a new driver was flown out immediately to complete delivery of its consignment of swiss rolls.

Fears mounted for Mr Fitzgerald when medicine for a stomach complaint was found in his cab and his last known contact proved to be a Greek doctor to whom he complained of stomach pains.

For a time OHS feared that Mr Fitzgerald might have been attacked and injured but this week the Foreign Office, which was alerted by the company, learnt that Mr Fitzgerald's father had received a telephone call from his son who told him that he had been very ill and was making his way home.

Both British and Greek officials are still unaware of Mr Fitzgerald's whereabouts and routine checks at hospitals when he first disappeared were unable to trace him.
