Ford, which never does things by half, has in the past 12 years built up one of the largest private airlines in Europe. It flew 51,256 Ford employees and 155,331Ib of freight — mainly internal mail — over 1.5 million miles last year. The 59 airline employees include 20 pilots.
Three aircraft — two BAC Ill and a Gulfstream G159 — make 26 scheduled flights a week (Monday to Friday) from Stanstead to Liverpool, Cologne, Valencia, Bordeaux, Maastricht and Amsterdam. Unscheduled services arE operated by an executive BAC 1-11 and a G159. Two of thE 1-11s were originally Braziliar presidential aircraft.
