Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

FORD main dealer Harold Perry Motors would have had a "brilliant year" but for the Ford strike in the second half.

As it was, pre-tax profits totalled £3.76m in 1978, compared with £2.77m in 1977, a 36 per cent increase. It is estimated that the nine-week strike at Ford cost Perrys around £0.5m in taxable profit.

The current year has started well, the company reports, with first-quarter profits up from £1.1m to £1.53m as sales delayed by the strike are recouped. Pre-tax profits are expected to be in the region of £4.5m by the end of the year.
