LAST week the Minister of Transport received a deputation from the Joint Fuel Tax Committee, representing the four major operator associations in the bus industry.
The deputation put its case for relief from the heavy burden of taxation which it was bearing— of the order of L30m a year. Any reduction in the tax would be used by the industry to stabilize fares and improve services.
