• Slough-based express carrier Business Post reports pre-tax profits up by 36% this year. Turnover for the firm has also increased, by 33%, Chairman Michael Kane says the i1.7m profits, on a turnover of £23.7m, were achieved by aggresive sales, effective cost controls and a successful franchise operation.
The company runs 60 franchises and has 15 hubs employing its own staff with a UK fleet of 800 vehicles. It recently announced its intention to challange Parcelforce's dominance of the three-day, non-time-sensitive parcels sector, with a new service called Premier 72.
