• The Law Lords are expected to make a decision this week on whether to give London local authorities power to force hauliers using the capital at night and at weekends to fit air brake silencers.
They reserved judgement on Condition 11 of the London lorry ban after last week's appeal by the London Boroughs Transport Committee.
