Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

MAXIMUM RELIABILITY with minimum disruption of vehicle operating schedules is the aim of a new maintenance system introduced by Mercedes-Benz (United Kingdom) Ltd for its New Generation truck range.

Mercedes-Benz expects that vehicle workshop visits for maintenance will be cut by about half and that time in the workshop for the same will be slashed by up to a third.

Under the new system vehicle workshop visits are geared to the type of vehicle operation; regular but relatively few maintenance visits are interspersed with service visits used to identify any defects requiring attention before the next maintenance falls due.

The service programmes have been divided into three main schedules depending on the type of vehicle operation. 0 Vehicles covering up to 28,962Icm (18,000 miles) per year under severe operating conditions have recommended service intervals of 4,827km (3,000 miles) , backed up by maintenance at intervals of 9,654km (6,000 miles). 0 Vehicles covering up to 96,540Icm (60,000 miles) have 9,654 km (6,000-mile) service and 19,308krn (12,000-mile) maintenance intervals and vehicles covering 96,540km (60,000 miles) year undergo a service 9,6541ttn (6,000-mile) inten — and their regular maint ance is stretched to 28,962 (18,000-mile) intervals.

The new schedules will a allow easier planning of vehi operating programmes. A the maintenance program itself has been streamlii with the five work schedu being reduced to two. So tests have been omit altogether and the vehi operator will be able. to 1 the dealer what jobs he wisl to be done.
