According to a, recant official report, the import of portable -engines and, threshing and mowing machines from Great Britain is practically impossible owing to the fact that Polish and Austrian machines cost less than half the price demanded by British manufacturers. There is no possibility of selling British ploughs, as ploughs are being manufactured locally in increasing numbers, so much so that it is believed that in a few years this will he one of the chief industries of Poland.

There is no market at present for tractors; but, given a demand, preference would. in many quarters, go to British machines on account. of their quality, although American types are cheaper. The local industry is developing very satisfactorily; every year the construeteion of new typesis being taken up, and in this respect Poland is gradually becoming self-supporting.
