Not very long ago General Motors, Ltd., moved their business from their old premises in Theirlee Place, London, to much more capacinue and convenient ones at the Hyde, Hendon, London, N. W. 9. '
We recently had an opportunity of inspecting the new works, which -we found extremely busy assembling vehicles of all the types: marketed by the company,
including Chevrolet, and Oldsmobile cemmercial vehicles.
Few people realize the actual size of the General Motors business. They have numerous fa.dtories both in America and Canada, embracing something like 2,000 acres of land, including 1,500 buildings, and the enormous financial resources of the el:nit-Any can be'climlY realized when We find on the asset side eaf the balaneesheet a total of. £116,•543,600, whilst since 1909 they have produced nearly 2,500,000 motor vehicles.
The network of factories in Canada represent an investment of nearly £6,000,000, and these factories are supplying all the Vehicles for the British market, It is stated that between 85 and 90 per cent, of the materials eMC10 bodied in each vehicle is of British manufacture. A most comprehensive service system hag been inaugurated at the Hendon Works, and a very large stock of spare parts is carried,
