Russia, too, I read, has pollution problems, even in Siberia. I don't know whether they're too worried about it, but I do have some information about the development of road transport over there.
Comecon is planning for an additional 22,000km of international highways, half to be built by 1990. During the past five years, says a Moscow State news agency, road freight has increased by 40 per cent.
And multilateral agreements have been signed on the output of several types of heavy trucks. The Soviet Union and Romania will produce six-ton trucks; Czechoslovakia 12-ton trucks; and Russia will also make the 27-ton and heavier trucks. Hungary, says the report, has scored big successes in building buses.
