Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• One of the aspects of safety highlighted by Ford Motor Co in its literature at the TRRL meeting was its contribution, with other European manufacturers, to an international investigation into driver behaviour.

The investigation is being. undertaken by IDBRA, the International Drivers Behaviour Research Association, and the TRRL is playing a leading role in its first study — overtaking, which is recognized as one of the most hazardous manoeuvres. (It results in 23,000 accidents a year in Britain alone) The first pilot sample of drivers are already being interviewed by IDBRA, and on-the-spot studies will be made into driver action and, reaction in overtaking situations. One aspect will be an analysis of the way in which drivers assess the level of risk in different.overtaking situutions in various parts of Europe.

Results are expected in about 18 months.
