THE possible failure of certain insurance companies to meet their obligations under the Road Traffic Acts was causing concern, said Mr. E. S. Bishop (Labour, Newark) in the Commons last week, and he asked for Government action to protect the public.
Mr. Douglas Jay, President of the Board of Trade, said he was aware of the concern. He pointed out that the Insurance Companies Act of 1958 conferred certain powers on the Board with regard to the solvency of insurance companies, and he promised to consider any information about particular companies which Mr.• Bishop could send him.
