Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

By Chris Tindal.,

THE PROPERTY developer trying to sell the former Akonbury lorry park in Cambridgeshire has quashed rumours that a sale has gone through, and has even suggested that the economic downturn could scupper its plans.

It was reported on Roadtransport.com last month that the truckstop had been purchased by the owner of another service station on the Al. Mark Stanojevie announced it should be back open in March 2009 complete with new facilities and a resurfaced parking area.

However, Chris White, asset management team head for developer VY'renbridge, tells CM a sale has yet to be finalised.

He adds: -We are very close, we are still the owners."

When asked if Wrenbridge could still be the owners at the end of the year, White replies: "Who knows in the economic climate?" He declines to comment further.

A spokeswoman for Huntingdonshire District Council says it is unaware of a sale. She says: "The idea of it continuing to be used as a truckstop is good news: we would look at that as a positive thing. Until there is an application or a sale, we really can't say any more," Pat Nicholson for the Professional Drivers Association says the situation needs to be resolved soon: "It will definitely be good to have it up and running again: overnight parking is desperately needed in that area. The situation in the run-up to Christmas is always so bad on the roads, you can't park anywhere.'' CM was unable to contact Mark or Brenda Stanojevic as we went to press.
