T IS REPORTED that lengthy negotiations between the two French companies, Citroen and Berliet, have resulted in an agreement under which Berliet becomes part of the Citroen Group. Bernet will become the "heavy vehicles department" of Citroen at the same time as retaining its own identity.
The Berliet family which had a controlling interest in the company has exchanged 80 per cent of its capital for 20 per cent of the shares of Citroen and together Citroen-Berliet represent about 26 per cent of French car and truck production.
