• The National Owner Drivers Association has protested to three ready-mixed concrete firms which it claims are attempting to charge owner-drivers for poor quality concrete delivered to customers. In February it told CM about delivery notes which make the driver responsible for the quality of the concrete — if the customer rejects it the driver stands to lose his haulage fee and has to pay for the ruined concrete.
Now Noda has told ARC, Tarmac Topmix and Tilcon Concrete that it is prepared to go to court to defend members forced to pay up — but letters to the companies, sent two weeks ago, have been ignored, says Noda's Mick Binns,
