Which of the following most accurately describes the problem?

• The interest displayed by operators in a dual-purpose bulk tipper exhibited by Locomotors Ltd., Andover, Hants, on a Seddon 16-ton-gross chassis/cab at the 1968 Earls Court Show led to a decision by the makers to produce a range of dual-purpose bulk tipper bodies. The bodies have fold-in sides and can he used for carrying palletized and non-bulk loads on return journeys, and the range covers applications to rigid tippers of 16-ton and 22-ton gross rating and articulated tipping vehicles having payloads of 15 tons up to 19 tons.

Marine plywood is used in the construction of the sides to resist corrosion by chemicals, and detachable divisions can be fitted to enable mixed loads to be carried. Pneumatic-discharge equipment is optional.

Important detail includes full-length, stainless-steel piano hinges, fitted to the sides and top extensions, as a seal against the loss of material when the vehicle is carrying a bulk load such as grain and so on.

All the bodies are framed in extruded alloy sections, while the tailboards are hung on channel hinges to swing from the top or bottom and are fitted with a central discharge control trap. The bodies are suitable for all makes of chassis including AEC, Bedford, BMC, Commer and Leyland. Edbro tipping gear is normally fitted as standard.
