• A pre-MoT test centre for commercial vehicles has been opened by Luton Commercial Motors at Leighton Buzzard which is one of over 80 specialist truck dealers that have been selected by the Ford Motor Company to offer operators' vehidles a full-scale safety check prior to their Ministry test.
The full check offered, including steam cleaning, takes a day to complete. Equipment at the centre includes a Kismet H PA KBT 1250/2 roller brake tester, which computes braking efficiency and diagnoses faults such as oval brake drums, contaminated brake surfaces, brake drag and brake imbalance.
