II A prototype RABA heavy yehicle built n Hungary specifically for international iaulage has now run 100,000 km, reports he Hungarian Chamber of Commerce in audapest. It is built by Magyar Vagon-es 3epgyar, Gyor, Ungarn, Wilhelm Pieck Ul; his is the RABA railway carriage and machine factory.

It is one of the first heavy duty trucks to 3e powered by the RABA-MAN diesel mgine built under licence from MAN in 3ermany.

Built for a payload of 23 tons the vehicle—a three-axled machine for hauling drawbar trailers—has been operating on Long-distance international haulage throughDut Europe and Asia, says the Chamber of Commerce.

There are two basic models in the RABA 831 range; the RABA-MAN D 2156 HMN 4 fitting the RABA-MAN engine which produces 215 bhp at 2200 rpm and has a maximum torque of 76 lb ft at 1400 rpm. The second model is the RABA-MAN D2356 HMN 4 the engine of which produces 230 bhp at 2200 rpm. Either a fiveor six-speed gearbox is available for both models.

Built primarily for operation with drawbar, three-axle, RABA 571 trailers, both models have sleeper cabs of Hungarian construction, but resembling MAN units and are intended to run at 38 tons gross train weight. Overall length of the vehicle and trailer rig is 17.950 metres (58ft 10in.). Outer turning circle or the whole outfit is 12 metres (39ft 4fin.). The RABA hauling units are also available as articulated vehicle tractive units.
